A host-read sponsorship is read in the host’s own voice; a prerecorded ad is a file the advertiser supplies.
Use the average an episode reaches in its first 30 days, from your host's stats. Sponsor deals are often priced on that window.

At this size, quote a package, not a spot
Strict CPM math puts one read under $100, which rarely covers briefing, scripting, recording and reporting. Our suggestion, not a market rule: state your CPM plus a campaign minimum, or sell three episodes together. How small shows sell sponsorships

How the calculator works
- 1
Choose your side and the ad format
Pick whether you are pricing your own show or buying an ad, then host-read or prerecorded. The CPM band changes with the format.
- 2
Enter your numbers
A host enters average first-30-day downloads per episode, sponsor reads per episode and episodes per month. A buyer enters a media budget.
- 3
Read the range, then quote
Use the midpoint as a starting quote and the range as your negotiating room. Add production, exclusivity, or extra channels as separate line items.
The formula is downloads ÷ 1,000 × CPM. The bands come from Acast’s published advertising guidance, read on July 30, 2026: about $25 to $40 CPM for host-read sponsorships and $15 to $30 CPM for prerecorded ads. Real quotes move with audience fit, placement, targeting, exclusivity and who does the selling. Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate podcast sponsorship rates?+
Divide the downloads an episode reaches in its first 30 days by 1,000, then multiply by the CPM (cost per thousand impressions) for the ad format. As of July 30, 2026, Acast's published guidance puts host-read sponsorships at about $25 to $40 CPM and prerecorded ads at about $15 to $30 CPM. Multiply by the number of sponsor reads per episode for an episode price. Production, exclusivity, and extra channels are priced on top.
How much should a podcast with 1,000 downloads charge for an ad?+
At a host-read band of $25 to $40 CPM, one read on a 1,000-download episode is worth $25 to $40. That is usually too small to cover the work of a custom read, so small shows commonly quote a CPM together with a campaign minimum, or sell a package of several episodes, rather than a single spot.
How much can a podcast with 10,000 downloads make from sponsors?+
With two host-read sponsor spots per episode at $25 to $40 CPM, a 10,000-download episode is worth about $500 to $800, or $2,000 to $3,200 a month across four episodes if every spot sells. Unsold inventory, network revenue shares, and agency fees reduce what the host actually keeps.
How many impressions does a podcast ad budget buy?+
Divide the budget by the CPM and multiply by 1,000. A $5,000 budget at a prerecorded band of $15 to $30 CPM buys roughly 166,600 to 333,300 impressions. Platforms and networks may also set campaign minimums, and targeting or custom creative can raise the effective CPM.
Is this podcast sponsorship calculator free?+
Yes. It is free with no sign-up, and the arithmetic runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you type is sent to a server or stored.
Why does a host-read ad cost more than a prerecorded ad?+
A host-read sponsorship is written or adapted and recorded in the host's own voice, so the host puts their credibility behind the offer and does custom work for each sponsor. A prerecorded ad is one creative file the advertiser supplies and a network can place across many shows. The custom work and the trust are why benchmark CPMs for host reads sit higher.
